Living Classroom is a unique environmental education program developed in the Los Altos School District that utilizes school gardens and outdoor learning spaces to promote environmental stewardship, inquisitive learning, and healthy eating habits through fun, hands-on, standards-based lessons. Living Classroom is seeking volunteers to teach our lessons and help care for our school gardens. No experience necessary as we teach you everything you need to know! Once trained, we ask our volunteers to teach 4 lessons a month during the school year. Garden volunteers can work in the gardens during or after school hours (about a 2 hour per week commitment). Visit our website for information on our Docent Training Program. If you don’t have time to volunteer as a docent or garden helper, you can volunteer to help in your child’s class when they have a Living Classroom lesson (sign-up through your child’s teacher). All help is appreciated!
